ABC’s ORIGINS

Research Library

Rwanda needs a good research library to be theologically strong. ABC has a goal of creating a research library with 100,000 volumes. As of October, 2023, 77,000 books have been gathered.  The ultimate goal is to make these books available to every theological library in Rwanda  through a library-loan system.

The initial library has been set up in a home in Gahanga just outside of Kigali. The library is open on Thursdays 2:00-8:00pm To get a map, please contact librarian Joel.

Theologians need serious theological books. The library has a used theological bookstore with about 100 volumes for sale. To get a list of books and prices, please contact librarian Dr G.

The ABC Central Library offers help for pastors on sermon preparation. To get resource  suggestions contact us on the Monday before the sermon. We will respond within four days.

Reading Groups: The library sponsors reading and discussion groups. Contact Joel to learn more.

Books can be read at the library collection of 2,200 volumes. A deposit of 10,000 rwf is required for each book checked out. The deposit is increased to 20,000 rwf for more valuable books.  Books can be checked out for two weeks. A fine of 500 rwf is charged for each day late.

The library has a Children’s Nook with a variety of children’s books.

The library has the largest C.S. Lewis Collection in East Africa with about 800 books by C.S. Lewis  and secondary literature. The library is decorated in a C.S. Lewis theme.

Theological Resources

ABC has translated five textbooks into Kinyarwanda for Pastors at the Bible Training Centre. These include Old Testament Survey, New Testament Survey, Bible Interpretation, Bible Doctrine, Pastoral Theology and Preaching. These books are all given to those enrolled in the ABC Pastor Training program.

The NIV Study Bible in Kinyarwanda (Bibiliya Yera Ifite Ubusobanuro) is given to each pastor finishing the ABC Pastor Training.

ABC has also worked with The Bible Project to localize their videos into Kinyarwanda. The first nine videos are completed with 72 more in production. View them here!

What’s more, ABC makes used theological books available at each Evangelical Theological Conference. These are priced low to help theologians and pastors afford valuable, sound study resources.

ABC endeavors to make Bibles available to those active in ABC Bible Groups who cannot afford a Bible.
